Glossary of terms: saved filters

Check out our glossary of saved filter terms below, and learn how to properly filter patients to successfully coordinate their care:


Current Status: The current status option allows you to filter your patient roster by your patients' most recent event. Filter options are:

  • Admitted – the patient’s most recent Ping was an admission event
  • Discharged – the patient’s most recent Ping was a discharge event
  • Deceased – the patient’s most recent Ping was a deceased notification
  • Presented – the patient's most recent Ping was a presentation at the ED
  • Closed –  patient was at a Hospital (ED or Observation), but no additional information was provided
  • Medical LOA – patient is on a Medical Leave of Absence
  • Visit  –  the patient's most recent Ping was for an urgent care event

Facility Name: The facility name category allows you to search for and filter by specific facilities where your patient's most recent event occurred. By default, you'll see the top five facilities, where your patients have had the most care events at. 

Facility Type: You can use facility type to filter your patients by where they've received their most recent encounter: hospital, SNF, of Home Health Agency (HHA).  If you want to find patients that have had an emergency department visit, please select hospital.

Setting: The setting category allows you to filter your patients by inpatient or emergency setting if their latest event occurred in a hospital. SNF Pings can be filtered as well by setting, however HHA Pings cannot.

Current Floor/Unit: The current floor/unit relates to the patient location at the time of the event. This information is provided only to admitting facilities and only shows the information your system has sent to PatientPing. 

Diagnoses: This filter includes the primary diagnosis for the patient's encounter, if available.

Admitted From: Use the admitted from filter to segment your patient roster based on the type of facility or setting from which your patient was admitted. You'll be able to select from a broad category list, including:

  • Court/law enforcement
  • Home
  • Home Health Agency
  • Hospice
  • Hospital
  • Hospital - Emergency
  • Hospital - Observation
  • Outpatient Services
  • Palliative
  • Physician Office
  • Rehabilitation Facility
  • Skilled Nursing Facility

Discharged To: Use the discharged to filter to sort the patient list based on the type of facility or setting to which your patient was discharged. You'll be able to select from a broad category list, including:

  • Adult Foster Care
  • Against Medical Advice
  • Assisted Living Facility
  • Child and Family Services
  • Court/law enforcement
  • Critical Access Hospital
  • Deceased
  • Home
  • Home - declined Home Health
  • Home - with Home Health Services
  • Home - with Hospice
  • Home - with Outpatient Services
  • Hospice
  • Hospital
  • Hospital - Observation
  • Hospital - Scheduled
  • Hospital - Unanticipated

Currently Billing: This is the billing information provided for your patient's care event. Options include: Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, Self Pay, None Provided.

Event Date: The event date category allows you to filter by the events bases on the number of days ago that they occurred. 

Visit Duration: The visit duration category allows you to filter by the duration of a patient's encounter. You can use the slider to select your desired visit duration range.

PatientPing Flags: By using the Bamboo Health Flags Filter, you will be able to monitor patients who match to the following flag criteria:

  • High Utilizer: Patients who have presented to the Emergency Department 3 or more times within the last 60 days.
  • Readmission Risk: Patients who have been discharged from an inpatient hospital stay within the last 30 days and have come back to the hospital , but have not yet been admitted. 
  • Recent Inpatient Stay: Patients who are currently inpatient at a Bamboo Health hospital and who also had a prior inpatient stay within the preceding 30 days
  • Recent SNF Stay: Patient who currently are at the hospital and have been discharged from skilled services at a SNF within the prior 30 days.
  • 3DW: Patient whose recent SNF stay was covered under the three-day rule waiver

Last Ping Resolution Status: This field indicates if the ping is currently open or has been resolved by your team. If a Ping was not acted on and is no longer the active Ping, this field will be blank. If a Ping was automatically resolved after 30-days of inaction, this field will be system resolved. Possible filter criteria include: 

  • contacted patient
  • contacted this facility
  • scheduled follow-up visit
  • other
  • no action needed
  • system resolved

Program: The program filter will give you insight into your panel mix by program. These could include an ACO program, a hypertension program, or a Medicare Advantage program. By default, you'll see the top five most common programs applied to your current panel, along with a search bar to look for any other options.

Practice: Use the provider practice filter to segment patients based on the group or practice name of their attributed provider.  

Provider: The provider filter lets you filter by a patient's attributed physician or provider who has an active care relationship with the patient. Each patient is attributed to one provider.  By default, you'll see the five providers that have seen the most patients, as well as 'search all options' to look for any provider names you do not see in that top 5 list.

Care Coordinator: Use the care coordinator filter to find out which patients belong to a given care coordinator.  By default, you'll see the top five care coordinators with the most patients, as well as a search bar to look for any names you do not see in that top 5 list.

Gender: Options for sorting by male or female.

Age: Filter patients by age.

City: Filter patients by the city in which they live. 

Zip Code: Filter patients by the zip code in which they live.
